Reason
On 25 July 2026, a fire started around 9:30 AM near a local school. After firefighters controlled the first outbreak, several new ignition points appeared nearby, leading authorities to suspect it was intentionally set. Strong winds further fueled the flames. Evacuations and lockdowns have affected 18000 people. Emergency services issued Es-Alert warnings across the Plana Baixa region. Multiple towns including la Vilavella, Artana, Eslida, Aín, Alfondeguilla, Tales, and Artesa were evacuated affecting a total of 18 municipalities. Extraordinary resources have been employed (UME) with firefighters, aerial assets, and provincial emergency crews remaining deployed on the scene, focusing on protecting urban areas and stopping the fire from expanding deeper into the Serra d'Espadà natural park. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide initial rough estimation, wildfire extent and damage assessment emergency mapping.
