Reason
Two wildfires started in Viotia Regional Unit (Sterea Ellada Prefecture), 55 km northwest of Athens, on 31 July 2026 at 06:35 and 08:04, and the fires expanded rapidly due to strong northerly winds. Residents of Aliki, Agios Nikolaos and Agios Vasilios had to be evacuated, and a 112 cell broadcast message was issued for this purpose. Ground forces (63 vehicles with 116 firefighters) and aerial means (12 helicopters and 6 airplanes) were used for fire suppression, assisted by municipality vehicles, machinery and volunteer organizations. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide initial rough estimation, fire extent and damage assessment emergency mapping.
